Refurbishment and extensions in Barnet
Complete renovation and expansion of a semi-detached property, significantly increasing the area on each house level.
Cox Architects designed a ground-floor and first-floor extension, a loft conversion, and the complete refurbishment of a semi-detached house in Barnet. The design maximized the site’s geometry by extending further to one side at the rear, allowing for a dining space at the back with an additional side window for more light. An industrial aesthetic was chosen, featuring prominent windows and quality stock brick placed vertically above the windows.
Internally, the floor level at the rear of the house was dropped to match the slope down to the garden, resulting in a stunning 2.8m ceiling height in the living area. The interior design included a light herringbone timber floor pattern, a shaker-style kitchen, and exposed brickwork to enhance the industrial aesthetic. At the first floor level, the side extension allowed for a new main bedroom ensuite and an extended second bedroom with an ensuite to the rear, significantly increasing the living space of the house and making it an ideal choice for those seeking a larger home.
